TL;DR

Most DTC marketing agencies charge a monthly management fee, and your ad spend is paid separately to the ad platforms. What you pay depends on how many channels you need, how much creative you need each month, and whether site work is included.

At MAG Growth, you pay only for the services you use, and we quote after a free audit.

Outline
MAG Growth services start at $2,500/mo. There’s no setup fee. See what’s included in DTC Brand Management, or browse all services.

How do DTC agencies price their work?

You’ll usually see one of three models.
  • Flat monthly fee. You pay the same amount each month for a defined scope. It’s easy to budget, and the fee doesn’t rise just because you spend more on ads.
  • Percentage of ad spend. The fee scales with your media budget. It’s simple, but it gives the agency a reason to push spend up whether or not it’s profitable.
  • Hybrid. A base fee plus a percentage above a set spend level.
One-time projects, such as a store build or a full redesign, are usually priced separately from monthly work.

How does MAG Growth price its work?

  • A flat monthly fee per service. You add or drop channels as you need them.
  • No setup fee.
  • A quote after a free audit. We look at your store, tracking and channels first, then quote only what you need.
  • Ad spend and software are billed to you directly, not marked up inside our fee.
  • Contract length. We typically do 3, 6, and 12 month agreements, and month to month options are available.
  • You own everything. Your ad accounts, pixel, Business Portfolio, data and creative stay yours.

What’s included in DTC Full Service?

  • Shopify site management and troubleshooting, with a 1 business day response.
  • SEO and AEO.
  • Paid media management on one platform: campaign builds, weekly optimization, creative testing and tracking.
  • Landing page optimization on existing pages, up to 2 a month.
  • Inventory management.
  • Analytics and reporting: GA4, pixel and Conversions API, a weekly scorecard and a monthly performance review.
  • Creative Essentials: 1 design a month.
A dedicated growth strategist coordinates the specialist teams.

What costs sit outside the agency fee?

Budget for these separately.
  • Ad spend. Paid directly to Meta, Google, TikTok and others.
  • Software. Shopify plan, Klaviyo, review apps and similar tools.
  • Production. Photography, UGC creator sourcing, influencer programs and PR are not in any MAG Growth retainer.
  • One-time projects. Store builds and redesigns.
There’s no minimum ad spend, but we recommend at least $1,500 a month in ad spend on top of our fee.

How do you know if an agency fee is worth it?

Compare the fee to the margin it needs to produce, not to the fee another agency quotes.
  • Do the math on contribution margin.
If your agency fee plus ad spend is more than the gross profit those ads bring in, the setup isn’t working yet, whatever Ads Manager says. Our guide to the ecommerce LTV to CAC ratio shows how to check.
  • Compare it with hiring. One in-house media buyer, designer and email manager usually costs more than a retainer once you add benefits. Our agency vs in-house cost breakdown covers the math.
  • Look for results in store numbers.
For one Shopify nutrition brand we work with, July 2026 gross sales reached $5,203 on 76 orders, against $4,183 on 67 orders in June, and Shopify conversion rate rose from 1.88% to 3.02%. That’s the kind of number to ask any agency for.
  • Check the track record. MAG Growth comes from the team behind My Amazon Guy, which has worked with 430+ brands on $1.4B+ in ecommerce sales, with 95% client retention. Read our story.

DTC Marketing Agency Cost FAQs

Do agencies charge a percentage of ad spend or a flat fee? Both are common. A percentage rises as your spend rises. A flat fee stays the same for a defined scope. Hybrids combine a base fee with a percentage above a spend level. MAG Growth uses flat monthly fees per service. What’s a reasonable monthly fee for managing Meta ads? It depends on your spend and what’s included. Ask what you get each month: how many new creatives, how often campaigns are optimized, what reporting you see, and whether tracking and landing pages are covered. A fee is reasonable when it pays for itself in store revenue, not just in reported ROAS. Is an agency cheaper than hiring in-house? Often, for brands still building a team. One retainer can cover media buying, creative, email and reporting, which would otherwise take several hires plus benefits. Our full cost comparison is in our agency vs in-house guide. Do agencies charge setup or onboarding fees? Many do, to cover account setup, tracking and strategy work before launch. MAG Growth doesn’t charge a setup fee. Do I have to sign a long contract? We typically do 3, 6, and 12 month agreements, and month to month options are available. Is ad creative included in the fee? At MAG Growth, Full Service includes one design a month. Brands that need more creative can add more design work each month. Photography, UGC creator sourcing and influencer work are separate. How much ad spend do I need on top of the agency fee? Enough for Meta or Google to learn. Meta’s learning phase looks for about 50 optimization events in 7 days per ad set, so your budget should match your cost per purchase. MAG Growth has no minimum ad spend, and we recommend at least $1,500 a month.
